SmartBox, Feature-Rich 3D Printer Launches on Kickstarter Starting at Just $199

Before this year the desktop computer 3D printing market found itself in a race to the bottom, cost wise if you remember. Business after company came, normally in hopes of attracting the herd of 3D printing enthusiasts over for their effort, offering a more economical merchandise, on Indiegogo or Kickstarter. After having a few businesses needed to pull their campaigns due to the infeasibility of fabricating at these costs while still turning a profit this race ended.
After a lull that lasted several months and began this summer, it seems as if this race may have just been restarted. A little under a month ago, a Florida-based company called iBox Printers declared what is probably the smallest, most portable 3D printer to come to market, the iBox Nano. Starting at only $189, this machine has brought in more than its $300,000 goal on Kickstarter with a couple days staying on its funding campaign (ending November 14). This might be just the beginning of yet another wave of innovative, affordable machines.
