While the United States Postal Service has definitely been going through tough times for a number of years now, they continue to forge onward having an eye toward the future–and the technologies that could play a role within their day-to-day operations. 3D printing continues to be on their radar officially since we reported last year on their white paper, If It Prints, It Ships: 3D Printing and the Postal Service, as they started a general foray into examining how a technology may help dollars stream into the USPS–rather than outside, as many would rationally project. This first investigation focused on expectations for a quantity of lightweight 3D printed dispatches.
